Antonio Llamas Vela

Born in Montilla on 15 November 1948, Antonio Llamas Vela was ordained priest on 29 June 1975. Between different ecclesiastical posts, he has carried out his pastoral work as parish priest in the villages of Cuenca and Coronada. Subsequently, he was sent to the parish of San José in Puente Genil, and later, he was sent to Rome where he obtained a degree in Biblical Sciences from the Pontifical Biblical Institute.

He was also parish priest in San Isidro Labrador de El Higuerón and chaplain of Santa Victoria in Córdoba. Likewise, Antonio Llamas completed his doctoral thesis in Biblical Theology at the Pontifical University of Comillas and, shortly afterwards, he was appointed parish priest of Apóstol Santiago in Córdoba.

He was then assigned to the parish of Santa María Madre de la Iglesia as an assistant priest and was subsequently assigned to the parish of the Inmaculada Concepción and San Alberto Magno. During this period he extended his studies in Biblical Philology and Philosophy and Letters at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, obtaining a PhD in both disciplines.

He is currently a professor at the San Pelagio Theological Study in the capital and at the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences, as well as founder and director of the Biblical Centre, María Madre de la Iglesia de Córdoba. He is the author of numerous books, the penultimate of which focuses on the Audi Filia of St. John of Avila.
